5 Crochet Gift Ideas for Mother’s Day 2021 | Patterns Included

Mother’s Day is an annual celebration for all that mothers do for their families. It is a time for showering them with love and reminding them of their importance. If you are anything like me, handmade gifts are a way to show love and pamper my mom.

This year I wanted to crochet something for my mom since it is such a large part of my life. I didn’t know what though, so I searched across the web. I found many crochet patterns (that I wish I had enough time to crochet!) and compiled them below. Take a look and let me know which ones you’re interested in!

1. Crochet Flowers

Now, I don’t mean that we replace a real bouquet of flowers for a crochet bouquet. What I’m thinking is flowers used for decorations. Make one large one or several small flowers. It doesn’t matter. Top gift boxes, cards and anything else you can think of to create a unique Mother’s Day gift package. Take a look at the patterns below.

Super Simple Flower Bow

The Super Simple Flower Bow is a free pattern by Two Girls Patterns. There are simple directions for the flowers, which you repeat for the number of flowers you want to add. I actually chose to do this for my mom’s gift. I didn’t use the flower pattern, but I did use the idea for pairing brown paper wrapping with the white flowers. You can see my version below.

Last Minute Mother’s Day Card

I crocheted this flower very fast. It does not require that much time, plus it is very beginner friendly! I made a short video on how to crochet the flower. Then all you do is glue the flower to paper and write a sweet note inside. This is the exact card that I made for my mom’s Mother’s Day card.

2. Kitchen Accessories

For years (even last year) I gave my mom her favorite cookies for Mother’s Day. She would never complain because she loves them. But I got to thinking, it would be really cute if I gifted her a handmade towel or potholder or dish cloth to go with her baked goods. Mom would get a gift she can enjoy immediately and one she can use for a long time. Take a look at the patterns I found for this type of gift.

Barrow Hand Towel

Two of Wands has stunning designs and the Barrow Hand Towel is just one of them! She created this design for her “Purposeful Patterns” initiative that she started a few years ago. On Earth Day she releases a knit and crochet version of a hand towel. Each pattern purchase will give a little of the proceeds to a charity of her choosing. I think this is a great gift for Mother’s Day! The rustic, yet sophisticated design (in her words, but I totally agree) would add character to mom’s kitchen.

Through the Window Hand Towel

Through the Window Hand Towel is a free pattern from Eye Love Knots. It was written as a holiday pattern, but I think with a nice color choice, it could work for Mother’s Day too. The texture is created with single crochets and double crochets, making this a beginner friendly pattern.

My Favorite Dishcloth

Melissa from Woods and Wool designed My Favorite Dishcloth with ease in mind. The seed stitch creates this nice texture that is perfect for washcloths. You can pick any colors that would match mom’s kitchen. I don’t think she would mind receiving a fresh set of dishcloths.

Picot Dishcloth and Towel

The Picot Dishcloth and Towel are designs by Melissa from Woods and Wool. Her blog post has directions for both the dishcloth and towel. It is an easy level pattern and she shares a video for how to add the picot stitch along the border. I think these would really add some elegance to mom’s kitchen.

3. Earrings

My mom does not have her ears pierced, so this is not a category I would consider for her. However, if your mother wears earrings, definitely consider making her a crochet pair. Earrings don’t take much time or materials. So you can whip her out a Mother’s Day gift in no time. Also, check out the blog post here that I wrote that compiles 15 other pairs of earrings.

Pineapple Earrings

The pineapple earrings were designed by me. You can follow along with the video above, or find the written instructions here. These are a fun gift to give mom so she can wear these earrings in the summer time. Not a whole lot of materials are required, plus you can make a matching pair because you’ll have enough yarn for at least 2 pairs!

4. Shawls

Shawls are bigger and require more time than the previous patterns. But don’t let that stop you. If your mom wears outer garments like this, you can really amaze her with your skills. A lot of times the lace shawls look super difficult, but in actuality the pattern is an easy skill level. This would be a crochet Mother’s Day gift that would be cherished by your mom forever. A lot of love goes into making a shawl.

Renata

Renata is a rectangular shawl that is a crochet design by Expression Fiber Arts (and it’s free!). This is a stunning design that is perfect for the spring and summer weather. I think this would make a perfect Mother’s Day gift. Choose the colors that your mom would love!

Sugarblush

Sugarblush is also a design from Expression Fiber Arts. This is a thicker triangular shawl since it is made with sport weight yarn. This pattern is a beginner friendly pattern, as the single crochet is all you need to know. Each single crochet is worked in the backloop to create this gorgeous texture. Can you see your mom wearing this one?

Adeline

Adeline, by Chandi from Expression Fiber Arts, is an advanced beginner crochet shawl pattern. You could wow mom by gifting this to her for Mother’s Day. The triangular shawl is taken to a different level with the pointed edges. It is made by crocheting the pineapple motif from the top to bottom. A beginner could make this, but would need to learn a few new skills. What’s great about this design is you just start crocheting and stop when you run out of yarn or once it is big enough.

Apricot Rose

Apricot Rose is a free crochet shawl pattern written by Annie Design Crochet. It is lacy and in the shape of a semi-circle. The pattern is an easy skill level, requiring you to know just the chain and double crochet. There are also pictures to show you how the first few rows should look and a chart for the number of stitches for each row therafter. Mom would feel so special if you crocheted this for her!

5. Spa Items

You can crochet a full spa set or just a few items. I think this category of patterns is perfect for a gift basket. You can make mom a couple items and pair that with candles, chocolate, gift cards (for manicure or massage), a book, etc. Pamper mom on Mother’s Day with a one-of-a-kind spa set that was handmade by you.

Farmhouse Spa Set

This set of crochet patterns is brought to you by Sunflower Cottage Crochet. This is a perfect gift to crochet for mom because all of the spa essentials are accounted for and is giftable as is. The 4 patterns that are included are: a louffa, a wash cloth, a soap saver, and a basket to hold all of the items. Each item is beginner friendly, requires minimal amounts of yarn, and the color choices are endless.

Bobble Stitch Crochet Soap Saver Pouch

This soap saver is darling. You can find the free pattern on the blog Savlabot. It is made with 100% cotton yarn. As the name suggests, the main stitch used is the bobble stitch. If you have never used this stitch before, she has a video tutorial. So this makes a great beginner friendly project. Crochet this for mom and pair with a bar of soap and a gift card, or throw into a gift basket.

Reusable Cotton Crochet Face Scrubbies

This is a free crochet pattern by Sarah Maker and you can find it on her blog. Give these to mom so she can have her very own set of washable, reusable face scrubbies. These make great gifts because they are small and easy to make, so you can throw these into a gift basket, or make several and gift with a soap bar! All of the stitches used are basic, making this a great beginner friendly pattern. It uses worsted weight 100% cotton yarn.

I hope you enjoyed this compilation of patterns! These designers are so talented and I want to make all of these designs!!!
