Our Story

The domain name SewHomey was purchased in January 2020. It was a New Year’s resolution of sorts. I finally decided to contribute to the online world of handmade businesses.

Abby Adams is the maker behind Sew Homey. I have always loved handmaking anything and everything. My favorite things to make are food, desserts, clothes, home accessories, books, and face wash.

Sew Homey began as an idea when I was a sophomore in high school, the year 2010. I played basketball for my school and we travelled a lot for tournaments. It was on a bus ride that a teammate of mine taught me to crochet. I can remember watching her, fascinated with how her hands moved with the hook and yarn. She was working on Christmas gifts for her sisters at the time.

I was so enthralled with the magic of crochet that when we stopped at Walmart to buy snacks, I went to the craft section instead. I bought a set of three hooks and a couple of balls of Red Heart yarn. My teammate fortunately saw my eagerness to learn and taught me the basic stitches to get me started.

My love for crochet and yarn developed from that day on. I watched YouTube tutorials to learn new techniques, pinned many projects on Pinterest, and even designed items for myself. I did everything I could to further my education about crochet.

Now it is a decade later and Sew Homey is finally here. I challenged myself with crochet projects until I felt I could master crochet. Now I am getting into pattern design and knitting, something I never thought would be possible.
