The Mary Jane Series

The Mary Jane Series is a collection of 3 crochet patterns that were designed with the summer in mind. All 3 patterns are quick to work up, easy level patterns, which means you can get your crochet fix, but still have time for summer activities.

The collection was inspired by the marguerite stitch, which is feminine and summery. It creates a thick and sturdy textured fabric that is lovely to work with. Each pattern is unique, but uses all of the same techniques.

The MJ42 Sunglasses Case

This pattern creates a sturdy and textured piece that is perfect for protecting sunglasses. I took mine to Las Vegas and threw it into my purse. The sunglasses remained intact with no scratches, and it felt so good to use a project that I made.

The sunglasses case is made of 2 panels worked in the marguerite stitch. Then it is whip stitched together, which creates a sturdy seam. Then it is finished by sewing a metal flex frame to the top. Stylish and functional.

The MJ43 Coin Purse

Throw this into a purse, the car, a beach bag, etc. This piece will hold whatever you need: money, stitch markers, Chapstick, you name it! Such a versatile piece to add to your accessories.

The coin purse is made in a similar manner as the sunglasses case. Except this time, you begin with a single crochet base. The base uses simple increases to give a little rounded shape along the bottom edges. Then the marguerites come next. The 2 textures give a nice contrast. Finally, the coin purse is finished in the same manner as the sunglasses case: the panels are whip stitched and a squeeze frame closure is attached to the top.

The MJ44 Clutch

Originally inspired to be a project bag so I could take a sock with me on my outings. But now I realize this piece is so versatile. You could also use it to hold makeup or essential oils or nail polish or take it out for a night on the town. Perfect size for throwing into another bag to keep your items organized.

The clutch is a combination of the techniques used in both the sunglasses case and the coin purse. First, the clutch is crocheted in panels of marguerites. Then a base is added afterwards because for this pattern, you flip the marguerites over so you get a fabric with the sides of the marguerite going horizontal. The final stages of this pattern follow the same whip stitch and flex frame techniques.
